Question 1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

This is my SlideShare showing how my product is alike existing products and why I made choices to use similar techniques and shots.

I also evaluated the use of conventions in my video. I also looked at theories of narrative, audience, representation and post modern style. Extension of post modernism in my video: My video requires an active audience to watch the video and interpret the scenes. A passive audience is 'spoon-fed' the narrative however in the starting scene the girl smothers the other however then in the following scenes she is alive and at the end she sits up and removes the pillow. This links with the dis-trust of narratives because some people would feel a bit confused to why she isn't dead however the narrative relies on the audience to interpret the following scenes and put together the idea that it was in her head. It also shows the confusion over time and space because I used shots from different scenes in other scenes and time/space it makes the audience question, when are they seeing what's in her head and when is it real life?

The videos below look at some of the cinematography, editing and lyric links.

Question 4: How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

I used Hardware and Software during my planning and research, production and evaluation of my coursework. Below is two prezi's which look at the hardware and software individually and how I used each one in the relevant stages. Overall hardware and software were the foundations of my coursework without them I wouldn't have been able to produce my music video. I didn't have that many technical issues. However the main issues I did have were:
YouTube upload time: Often I found that the speed of uploading videos was very slow. Overnight I had left a four minute video to upload, in the morning it still wasn't completed. Therefore I couldn't upload many videos from home. From college it was difficult to upload videos because the internet speed was temperamental, sometimes the videos would upload in twenty minutes however other times it gave me times like 2333 minutes which was really slow and unrealistic.
Internet: Linked back with the YouTube one, the wifi had ran out at my house (partly due to the attempts to upload videos) therefore I couldn't access it. I do talk about this in the software prezi however it was one of my main problems I ran into relating to technology.

4th Filming Shoot

We started at a similar time to the previous days. Allowing the full day to complete filming.
Location: Bedroom at my Grandmas
Scene: Bridge scene, a few extra scenes we didn't get in the first shoot (or that was too dark)
We started filming at around 10am and finished around 1pm (stopping for lunch break inbetween) I was really pleased with the outcome. Below is the video to show our day.

We didn't run into any problems as it was quite a straightforward shoot, I had started early to make sure there was plenty of daylight time. Also I had made sure that the battery was charged sufficiently and whenever we took breaks (i.e. for dinner) I made sure it was on charge.

3rd Filming Shoot

3rd Shoot: Tuesday
Location: My back garden
Scene: Chorus
I got up at 7am as I had to drive back to my grandmas (previous day's filming location) as I had left the camera charger there. On the way back I picked Phoebe up at 8:30 and Nicole at 9:00. We got back to mine at 9:15 and then while I charged the camera the girls got ready.
As it was a scene outside I was aware it was cold, luckily it was sunny and not raining or snowing. Because of the coldness I wanted to minimize the amount of time the actresses had to be outside, we practiced scenes indoors before going outside so they knew what they was doing. (This can be seen in the video below). I also had them both in dressing gowns/coats so that between scenes outside they could be warm. As they was mostly kneeling we took kitchen roll out to pad the ground between the mud and their knees. We had finished filming by 1:00pm and had got all the footage we needed for these scenes.
Costume: The costume Phoebe wore (greek-style) was a piece which Phoebe's mum had handmade, and the dress Nicole wore (pink) was a lace one I owned.

2nd Filming Shoot

 Monday
On the Sunday night I made sure my camera was on charge so that I had a full battery for filming the following day. I made sure each actress was briefed on what clothes and makeup they was to bring.

Problems:
However I found that I couldn't find my SD card therefore after searching everywhere I decided I would have to go to PC World the next day and buy another one. Because of this I made sure I woke up earlier and picked up my actors earlier. We arrived at PC World just after 9 (when it opened) and I bought two SD cards (32GB each) so that in future if I lost one, I would have a back-up. It was also a good idea to get two 32 GB cards instead of 64GB in case the card became damaged so that I had another.

We was at my Grandma's for 9:30, while my actors were getting ready, I drove to the Co-operative to buy a orange. This was the main prop to the kitchen scene.
We started filming at about 10am and finish around 12:00 which was really good time and the whole filming process went smoothly after earlier hiccups.
I successfully got all the shots I wanted to get from the day.

Filming Schedule

My aim was to film in a three day period over the holiday's. I had previously had trouble with organising a time that both actresses could do, both had just got weekend jobs and was working every Saturday and Sunday daytime. Filming on a night was not an option because I needed the daylight. Also Phoebe does not attend Wyke and her college timetable did not fit with mine and Nicole's therefore we could not film in the week either. I organised the three day filming and planned which locations we would go to. This was my filming schedule:

Monday
Location: Grandma's House, kitchen.
Times: Leave at 8:00am, pick up Phoebe 8:30am & Nicole stayed at my house the night before to save travel time.
Arrive at location: 9am
Prepare for filming between 9-9:30
Start filming: 10am
Finish: When filming the scene was completed
Scene: The kitchen scene

Tuesday
Location: My house, back garden
Times: Leave my house at 8:00am, pick up Nicole at 8:30am, Phoebe before 9, back to my house for 9:20. Get ready for 10:00am start filming at 10:20am.
Finish: When filming the scene is complete
Scene: Garden scene (chorus)

Wednesday
Location: Grandma's house, my bedroom
Times: Leave my house at 8:00, pick up Nicole at 8:30 and Phoebe before 9:00, arrive at 9:10, get ready for 9:40, start filming at 10:00.
Finish: Once all sequences have been completed
Scene: Filling in some more footage from the first shoot where shots were too dark or which I wasn't happy with. Also the mid-section of the song. & the ending sequence.
